HDMI is the most prominent standard for
HDTV formats like 1080p or 720p with up to 340 Mhz clock rate
with uncompressed video, along with eight channels of digital
audio over a single cable. HDMI and DVI signal give the best
available picture quality, but impose challenges for a ProAV
and even residential installation with High-bandwidth Digital
Content Protection (HDCP) two-way communication via second
UTP cable and a limited cable run of 30-40 ft (12-14 m) at
1080p resolution.

Most HDMI or DVI over UTP (CAT5 or CAT6) extender required
running two cables, one for the video signal, and another
for the HDCP/DDC information. "After researching and
developing HD CAT One technology and testing with multiple
sources and displays," explains Mitesh Patel, CEO of
Teq AV/IT, "we have resolved the problem of dual cable
and HDCP/DDC with introduction of TPH372."
With its HD CAT One technology, Teq AV/IT has a smart learning
transmitter that will provide display's DDC information to
the source. Once initialized with display like LCD TV, Plasma
or HD projector, the transmitter of TPY372 can be attached
to any HD sources like PC, Blu Ray Player, DVD Player, Media
Players, Playstation 3, Digital Signage Player to extend the
HDMI or DVI signal over single CAT6 or CAT5 unshielded twisted-pair
(UTP) cable. "My engineers tested the first release of
TPH372 and after testing with Sony Blu Ray Player and Teq
Digital's VPH150 HD Digital signage player, we found excellent
quality of 1080i and 720p images on our Panasonic plasmas
and Sharp and NEC LCD displays, said Jim Mills of AV Design
Concepts of Downey, CA.
Teq AV/IT's new TPH372 allows HD signal from HDMI sources
up to 130'(40m) at 1080p or 170' at 1080i or 200' at 720p
over single UTP cable.. With equalization and gain settings,
TPH372 provides a fast and easy way to show perfect high-definition
image from any HDMI or DVI source to a compatible display
in matters of minutes through a single cost-effective UTP
cable. TPH372 is priced lower than most two UTP-STP cable
extenders in the market at $395. TPH372 will be shipping from
October 1, 2008.
