Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D.,
announces the release of the PST-12HD outdoor, modular LED
panel. The lightest outdoor LED panel of its kind in the industry,
this ultra-thin, lightweight panel weighs in at 50 kg (110
lbs) per square meter. The product features 7,500 nits of
intensity, color calibration for cross-rental, a revolutionary
pixel layout for greater contrast, superior viewing angles
and 19-bit image processing for industry-leading image quality.
PST-12HD panels use a single-point structural latching method
to connect quickly in the field forming large-screen video
displays of any shape or size. Building with thin, light panels
speeds the setup and teardown process, minimizes cabling requirements,
reduces overall display weight and provides an economical
crating and shipping solution making them ideal for concert
touring, corporate events, award shows, festivals and sporting
events.
"We developed the PST-12HD to provide touring companies
a middle-range pixel pitch that is light and thin," said
Jay deBlonk, Daktronics Mobile and Modular Product Manager.
"We feel there is an opportunity to help these companies
lower their operating cost, by reducing fuel expenses and
the number of trucks and operators required, without compromising
display size."
Gaining from commitment to ongoing product advancement, the
PST-12HD takes advantage of the latest high-bright, lamp-style
LED technology to deliver 7,500 nits of intensity 25
percent brighter than 6,000 nit products and 50 percent brighter
than 5,000 nit products. "The intensity has been increased,
making it better equipped to overcome washout effects associated
with direct sunlight, while not affecting the LED lifetime,"
said deBlonk.
Due to a distinctive "eyebrow" shader positioned
above each through-hole LED, true color reproduction is maintained
even at extreme viewing angles. In addition, "mini-shaders"
have been added across the face of each module creating a
texture that reduces direct sunlight reflection, increasing
overall display contrast. To further enhance contrast levels,
the PST-12HD display face offers an anti-reflection module
coating giving the appearance of a blacker-black.
To provide the highest degree of reliability, PST panels use
a bidirectional signal that provides redundancy at the panel
level, industry standard power and signal interconnects for
reduced display downtime and are serviceable from the front
as well as the back.
In addition to the PST-12HD, other PST models available from
Daktronics include the outdoor PST-23 and PST-13, the indoor
PST-10i and the SMD LED indoor/outdoor PST-10.
