Crestron Advances Projector Functionally With Texas Instruments DLP Technology

Source: Crestron

Crestron Electronics has announces the ability to deliver built-in, direct connectivity and control of DLP projectors via the LAN using RoomView™ Express software.

The latest projectors built on Texas Instruments (TI) DLP technology offer standard Ethernet connectivity, and Crestron RoomView provides the power and flexibility of complete management and control of all projectors remotely and globally on the network. Crestron control built into DLP projectors delivers simple, easy to install standardized classroom technology throughout the school.

“Creston’s ability to add native network control and management capabilities to DLP-enabled projectors offers a significant value to those using the technology,” said Roger Carver, manager of TI DLP front projection business. “Teachers, administrators and IT professionals all benefit from the ease of use, simplicity and additional functionality this solution combination offers.”

Crestron RoomView is now included free in select DLP projectors, enabling powerful networked classroom technology in every classroom without any special wiring, hardware or programming. Simply install a RoomView Connected™ DLP projector using a standard ceiling mount and cables, download the free client executable software from the Crestron website and enjoy the benefits of network managed and controlled projectors throughout the school. Implementing a single-platform, standardized classroom technology solution is that easy.

“When it comes to education, TI DLP innovates with the intent of providing smart, versatile technology for the classroom,” Carver continued. “We’re proud that Crestron RoomView is leveraging the Ethernet port on DLP projectors so that schools can take advantage of the opportunities networking provides.”

Using RoomView, administrators and support staff can remotely take control of classroom technology, perform remote system diagnostics, track projector usage and lamp life and log network activity. Remote capabilities allow efficient scheduling of routine maintenance, faster response times to classroom support calls, and alert notifications if projectors are disconnected. RoomView software is compatible with any DLP brand projector, so different makes and models may be replaced without any system reconfiguration or programming. Simply connect the new projector and Crestron RoomView automatically recognizes the device for immediate, seamless communication and control.

“With thousands of Crestron RoomView installations worldwide, it was the natural choice to take network device management to the next level by embedding the program into the latest Ethernet connected DLP projectors,” explains Josh Stene, Crestron Product Line Manager.

RoomView is the platform on which a complete Crestron classroom presentation and control system may be built. Easily connect Crestron QuickPack bundled AV systems, as well as lighting and climate control and occupancy sensors for enhanced energy saving features.
