Atlona Technologies has been leading the
pack in the world of HDMI 1.3. Atlona was one of the first
to offer 1.3b certified HDMI cables, then more recently announced
the conversion of its entire line of HDMI matrix switchers
to be compatible with the new 1.3 standard. Now Atlona announces
their newest HDMI 1.3 product, the AT-HDMI1340SR.
This extender allows the lossless transfer of HDMI 1.3 1080p
video with embedded Dolby TrueHD multi channel audio over
two CAT5 cables, up to 200M (650Ft). This extender also feature
the ability to extend IR for remote controls from the display
back to the source, letting users control a HDMI device such
as a Blu-Ray player even if it is in another room.
These new extenders will allow users to take full advantage
of the HDMI 1.3 content that is slowly trickling into the
market through Blu-Ray and downloadable systems such as AppleTV.
The HDMI 1.3 standard promises support of higher frame rates
and resolutions because of the higher bandwidth requirements.
Now with the AT-HD-IR40SR, users can enjoy the 1.3 features,
even if their display is farther than the distance limitation
of strait cable.
The new extenders are currently available
for pre-order. The AT-HDMI1340SR will start shipping by the
end of July.
