Adder, a leading developer of KVM switches,
extenders and KVM over IP solutions, today announced the launch
of the AdderLink X50 video extender. The AdderLink X50 is
a link transparent USB and high performance video extender
that delivers bright, sharp, high quality video at up to 1920
x 1200 together with 44.1kHz digital stereo audio over a single
CATx cable.
The AdderLink X50 is designed for use in applications where
users require their USB peripherals such as keyboards, mice
and graphics tablets to be extended up to 165 ft from the
computer. Beyond more traditional uses, the X50 is ideal for
interactive digital signage applications such as point-of-sale
and touch screen kiosks.
The AdderLink X50-Multiscreen adds a second video and transparent,
high speed RS232 connection. The extra functionality adds
to the diverse range of solutions for which the AdderLink
X50 can be used including the extension of computers with
dual monitors, allowing it to be used in industrial applications
plus a diversity of other KVM extension scenarios.
"We saw the market need for a cost-effective, high performance,
transparent USB and video extender that can support all low/full
speed USB devices," said Nigel Dickens, Adder's CTO.
"The AdderLink X50 has the usual high video performance
you would expect from any Adder product combined with totally
transparent USB, meaning that the potential applications are
incredibly diverse."
USB support has become critical as PS/2 keyboards and mice
become less common and the use of peripherals such as graphics
tablets and USB drives increase. The AdderLink X50 uses Adder's
unique USB extension technology to extend USB transparently
up to 165 ft. The X50 delivers the highest possible levels
of USB compatibility and supports all low/full speed compatible
USB devices.
To ensure maximum video performance, the AdderLink X50 allows
very smooth and fine picture adjustments to be made. For maximum
flexibility, local control of extended computers through a
local video and audio output at the transmitter unit is also
possible. The AdderLink X50 provides true Display Data Channel
(DDC) emulation, ensuring all possible resolutions are supported
and the video card is always perfectly set up. The X50 is
platform independent and is desk, shelf or rack mountable
for added flexibility, up to 16 units can be fitted into a
2U frame for rack mount applications.
The AdderLink X50 is currently available through local distribution
partners around the world and has a list price of $645. The
AdderLink X50-Multiscreen will be available in the Fall of
2008 and will carry a list price of $945.
Adder (booth #N7157) will debut the AdderLink X50 at InfoComm
2008 in Las Vegas from June 18th through June 20th.
