Adder Launches No Compromise DVI KVM Extension Solution

June 16, 2008

Source: Adder

Adder, a leading developer of KVM switches, extenders and KVM over IP solutions, today announced the launch of the AdderLink X-DVI. The AdderLink X-DVI is the world's first extender to send both USB and DVI signals over the same CAT6 cable. The X-DVI is ideal for users that require superior, no compromise video resolutions for use in industries such as medical and broadcast and for applications such as graphic design, drafting and animation. The AdderLink X-DVI will support the extension of USB keyboards and mice and high definition video over distances up to 165 ft.

"For some time KVM equipment manufacturers have only offered two solutions for KVM extenders with DVI, either expensive products using fibre optic cables or less expensive products using copper that compromise video quality by limiting color depth, refresh rate or reducing sharpness," said Nigel Dickens, Adder's CTO. "The whole point with DVI is that there should be no compromise and that the video image is pixel perfect. "The X-DVI offers a no compromise DVI solution at a low price, showcasing Adder's engineering expertise in a product that will be ideally suited for applications that require faultless digital video performance."

For faultless plug and play operation, the AdderLink X-DVI transfers DDC EDID information from the screen so that the video card is always perfectly set up. The AdderLink X-DVI is fully flash upgradeable; therefore, future proofing the product and protecting the customer's hardware investment. The X-DVI can be interface powered at the computer end avoiding the need for additional power sockets. For video only applications, an optional power supply can be purchased.

"The exciting result of our engineering is that despite the use of some very sophisticated circuits, the AdderLink X-DVI, the world's first no compromise DVI KVM solutions, can be delivered at a price comparable to current professional analog extension products," Nigel Dickens adds.

The AdderLink X-DVI will be available through local distribution partners around the world beginning in the Fall of 2008.

Adder (booth #N7157) will debut the AdderLink X-DVI at InfoComm 2008 in Las Vegas from June 18th through June 20th.
