Addressing
lamp glare health and safety concerns is one of the objectives
with 3M's new interactive addition to its Digital Media System
(DMS) 800 Series of wall-mounted projection devices for classrooms,
boardrooms and training centres.
The DMS810
- which complements the existing DMS815 interactive model
with detachable pod - incorporates 3M's Vikuiti Super Close
Projection technology and a built-in digital annotation pod
to create a fully-integrated interactive system, writes David
Davies. The DMS800 Series of wall-mounted projector devices
are designed to 'hang' above pull-down screens, dry erase
boards, digital boards or even smooth, light coloured walls.
An adjustable 'telescopic' arm allows presenters to project
images from a 50-inch to 85-inch diagonal, making it ideal
for use within architecturally challenged environments.
According to 3M, the DMS810 all-in-one interactive
model takes the functionality of the 800 Series to the next
level with its ability to turn "almost any surface"
into a digital whiteboard or large interactive computer display.
It has an annotation pod built-in to the front of the base
unit and comes with a digital presentation pen and annotation
software. The annotation pod features a number of set performance
parameters to optimise its interactive performance.
The DMS810 incorporates Digital Light Processing
(DLP) technology, is rated at 1500 ANSI lumens and has a native
aspect ratio of 4:3, 16:9. The specification also includes
an integrated 40W Stereo Surround Sound TruSurround XT system,
Hollywood Quality Video (HQV) and comprehensive input capability,
allowing for a variety of input peripherals such as PCs, digital
cameras, DVDs or video conferencing systems.
Paul Gardner, business development manager
at 3M Visual Systems, told II: "In the largest, most
penetrated interactive marketplace in the world, the DMS810
interactive projector provides us with a truly unique product
that positions us on our own with differentiation that dealers
will be delighted with. All this with a price that can compete
against any interactive projection system available on the
market today."
